In his previous role with digital marketing agency Riptown Media, MJ led the direction and delivery the of global eMarketing strategy for all business arms of Bodog (Bodoglife.com, Bodoglife.net, BodogTV, BodogFight, BodogMusic, Bodog Battle of the Bands, BodogNation, BodogBeat, BodogFantasy), a $6 billion Caribbean online entertainment and gaming company and private foundation Calvin Ayre, with an annual team marketing budget of $100M.

MJ’s support for the Internet Marketing industry includes volunteer role as Website Board Director for the International Internet Marketing Association, along authoring an Internet Marketing industry blog; Internet Marketing - Strategies of Change.

Professional Background

In his previous role as Senior eMarketing Manager / Specialist with Riptown Media (now FiverMedia), Canada, he directed and led the strategy and execution of Bodog’s organizations global eMarketing planning, strategy and programs , eMarketing revenue objectives, operational efficiencies (resources, processes, skill-sets) and internal customer service between offices in Vancouver, Toronto, Costa Rica, Antigua and London.

MJ’s concentration in his role was also spent overseeing concept and delivery of customer lifecycle eMarketing campaigns and programs including lead generation, customer acquisition and conversion, retention and loyalty, brand affinity and viral. He led the direction and execution of hundreds of eMarketing campaigns and programs including cross-channel campaigns with web channels of affiliates, advertisers,  search and social media, many of which obtained ROI success of 100% to +400%.

His eMarketing expertise was also spent directing and executing the organizations email marketing reputation framework and infrastructure, which included key partnerships with Exact Target, Strongmail Enterprise and Talisma, along building ISP relations with AOL, Microsoft, Yahoo and others.

History

Michael launched his career upon graduating British Columbia Institute of Technology specializing in marketing management and eBusiness. He spent the following years at Knelson, a global leader in B2B capital mining equipment with presence in over 70 countries. During his time at Knelson, Michael was responsible for the management of all web marketing programs and online brand presence. 

Michael spent 2 years as Website Board Director for the International Internet Marketing Association where he led the planning, strategy and implementation of a new association website with membership and ecommerce services.

He is an entrepreneur of multiple Internet incubator projects. In early 2004 he founded the Canadian online social community of HarryPotter.ca and a local Vancouver ethnic targeted BtoC marketplace.

In 2006/07 he acquired the venture capital for an online luxury vacation rental marketplace start-up, which was the result of an ebusiness platform scalable for other ebusiness start-ups.

The most recent start-up as a result of this ebusiness platform is a online business centre focussed on the consumer financing auto market, which received national media recognition and fast becoming one of the leading players in its Canadian market.

Michael’s more recent career adventures resides with leading the eMarketing direction for global entertainment brand Bodog, and his own professional Internet Marketing consulting company concentrated on educating and helping client  businesses of all sizes with a holistic approach to Internet marketing and business strategy, including search, email, social, online advertising, viral, website design and development.
